About Us

I've been sewing for umpteen million years. Before I could sew, I taped and stapled clothes together on my Barbies. My degree is in costume design, more specifically, theatrical costuming. Curious Cat Clothing consists of me, my husband (the roadie), who shleps heavy things and mans the booth, and my best friend, Kate (Libragear), who helps us (wo)man the booth at conventions and is responsible for designing/maintaining my website. When I'm not taking over the living room sewing, I'm a stay at home mommy to my son, Gabriel and my new daughter, Lillian. When Gabe's at school and Lily's napping, I sew/cut stuff out/program html/clean/occasionally Facebook/Mafia wars/eat bon-bons (YEAH, RIGHT!), etc.

I got my BFA in Theatrical Design and Technology with a costuming focus from the University of Evansville and continued to work professional theatre after graduation. Because theatre work is hard to find year round, I decided to try my hand at costuming/fashion solo.

I AM A FABRIC SNOB! If it's not cotton, silk, linen, or just feels pretty, I don't want to work with it. I have 2 rooms of fabric/trim/buttons/patterns. So much fabric, in fact, that I had to move my sewing table into the living room, which is nice because I can watch science fiction while I work now.

Curious Cat Clothing is dedicated to supplying the plus size (and the not-so-plus-size) community with stylish, flattering and fun things to wear. I cater to men and women and have been offering well made, unique plus size styles for over ten years. I am based in St. Louis and can be seen vending at several Mid-West science-fiction and fantasy, anime and steampunk conventions.

I like to cater to plus size men and women, being a plus size girl, myself. We deserve fun and sexy things to wear, don't we?
